ISBN and ISSN in EAN-13

Books and magazines are often provided with a GS1 barcode for sale at a retailer's POS. However, the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) or the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), which is encoded with the barcode, is not assigned by GS1 Switzerland.

Both ISBN and ISSN can be mapped with the EAN-13 barcode. If you need an ISBN for books or an ISSN for magazines, please contact the ISBN Agency Switzerland or the ISSN Centre Switzerland.
